12 oz. Mouse was an adult animated television series that originally aired on Cartoon Network's late-night programming network Adult Swim. Each episode was over 11-12 minutes long, and originally ran for two seasons on television. The show is composed of crude drawings using limited animation, and consisting mostly of random use of gun violence, or alcohol. The series was created by Matt Maiellaro, one of the co-creators of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and the voice actor of the series' main protagonist Mouse Fitzgerald.
The plot revolves a bizarre conspiracy that seems to take nonsensical turns or twists. Although the show can become non-linear, each episode hints that it contributes to a bigger story. The show is serialized, with each episode continuing from the last.
The series originally started in June 2005, with the first episode "Hired" being a special summer presentation, with the rest of the season airing in October 2005 to January 2006. The second season started in September 2006 and later concluded in December. The show's plot remain unresolved by the end of the season. In May of 2007, a webisode known as "Enter the Sandmouse" premiered exclusively on Adult Swim's website. This was the only known webisode that has ever been released onto the website.
In 2018, the series would return with a half-hour special titled "Invictus", which premiered on October 14th. After the special aired, it was announced that the series would be greenlighted for a third season with ten episodes in 2020, as confirmed by an editor on the show. Season 3 would later premiere unannounced on April 1st, 2020, with the first episode being aired as an April Fools Prank. The rest of the third season aired in July 2020 and concluded in August.
In February 2021, it was revealed by the series' creator Matt Maiellaro that the show would not be picked up for a fourth season.

Reception
Audience reception was generally mixed. Common Sense Media[1] panned the show by saying that it's a "bizarre, booze-steeped cartoon for adults". Some viewers have praised the comedic value of the show, while most have panned it for its use of limited animation.
Home Video Releases
In 2008, the series would receive a two-disc DVD. The first disc compacted every episode, with the exception of "Auraphull", into a movie while the second one included extras such as an entire Soundtrack.
The show's first two seasons were officially added to Max on December 31st, 2020. The third season was later added to Max in 2021. Although the series would later be removed off of the streaming service in 2024.
The series is also available on iTunes and various POV services.
Trivia
- On Adult Swim's website (Adult Swim.com), as well as iTunes, and on some TV guides, the summaries for every episode of the first two seasons would instead have summaries from a 1974 sitcom called Good Times but with some of the character names changed (although "Enter the Sandmouse", "Invictus" and the entirely of Season 3 use original summaries).
- There was a song inspired by 12 oz. Mouse titled Korn Dogz, produced by the hip hopduoDanger Doom. It uses audio clips and the "corn dogs for the picking" line from the episode "Rooster". Although the latter of which is said by MF Doom instead of Mouse Fitzgerald.
- A scene from the episode "Spharktasm" is visible on a monitor watched by Space Ghost (from the set of Space Ghost Coast to Coast) in Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, and also its squeal Plantasm.
- There is a website titled Corndog Central (previously known as 12 oz. Mouse Central) dedicated to the show.
- All of the animation in the first two seasons and the webisode was animated by Radical Axis, an animation studio, while all of the animation in the "Invictus" special and every episode of Season 3 were animated by Awesome, Inc.
